Timing shortages catch teams off guard because the part seems generic. It isn't: a 12 MHz crystal with 18 pF load capacitance is not the same part as one with 12 pF, even in the same package. The wrong one passes incoming inspection and fails in the field.

What should our RFQ include for a crystal?

Ideally the full manufacturer part number. If you don't have it, send frequency, load capacitance, frequency tolerance, package size and operating temperature range — that's enough for us to quote the right part, not just a close one.

Can we substitute a crystal with a different load capacitance?

Not silently — a different load capacitance shifts the frequency and can break timing-sensitive interfaces. If the exact spec is unavailable, we flag the difference and your engineer decides before we procure.

What lead time should we plan for?

Crystals and oscillators are sourced through our global network in 4–6 weeks standard, or 7–10 days by emergency air cargo when a production line is waiting.
